The materials used
for filing lines and deep wrinkles on face caused by slacking,
collapses due to aging (under eyes and on cheeks etc.) dip areas
on skin (bruises, acne marks) and sometimes for contour fixing
(like fat and lively lips) are called filling materials. These
are the products produced from different chemical materials and
distributed to market. However, because the injection of many
materials into body may cause drawbacks, other than some
reliable products (collagen, hyaluronic acid etc.) they are not
preferred.
Can filling materials be used for
contour fixing?
Yes. Filling materials
can be used for setting lip curves and pogonion, increasing
forehead convex, getting cheekbones plump.
How are filling materials classified?
Filling materials can
be classified into two groups: the ones gained from the body
(fat, tissue cocktail, and cartilage etc.) and foreign
materials. Among foreign materials, silicon, stitching
materials, filling materials with silicon bits, gelatin
dust, beef collagen, hyaluronic acid can be counted.
Can all of these materials be used
safely?
No. After liquid
silicon injections, high allergic reactions and tissue
deformations can be observed and it is known to penetrate
into veins and cause death. It can cause damages and bruises
on skin. Thus, silicon injections are not used anymore.
After injections with silicon bits, an artificial outlook
and under the skin abnormalities can be formed. Other
synthetic filling materials may cause permanent tissue
damage, deformation and skin color changes according to
infection or allergic reaction it caused after injection.
Which filling materials can be used
safely nowadays?
Beef collagen and
hyaluronic acid are common and safe filling materials.
However beef collagen is discharged out of body on the 3rd
week because of an allergic response it creates. After such
reactions, near tissues swell and such swelling makes
wrinkles straighten for 1-2 months. Thus, after collagen is
injected into body, it is discarded like a foreign tissue by
being rejected by the body. Before its injection, allergy
test should be taken. Its most important disadvantage is
that it may cause serious allergic reactions on some people
and after injection, they diminish completely after 2-3
months. In some cases when injections are made before
allergy test, reactions, which have crucial threat for body,
may occur with the response of the immune system. That is
why, the usage of beef collagen has been limited.
What is hyaluronic acid filling
material?
This filling material,
which has a shape of opaque gel, is the biotechnological
production of hyaluronic acid material found in body
normally and return of it to the body like supply when it
needs. Hyaluronic acid is a connective tissue element, which
is found in connective tissues of all living things (plants,
humans, animals), between collagen fibers and which has a
polysaccharide structure making skin plump, lively and
clear. The fact that hyaluronic acid diminishes in the skin
structure is one of the most important reasons skin gets
older and it makes skin pale, wrinkle and have thin lines.
With the injection of this filling material to the skin, the
brightness, plumpness and elasticity of the skin returns.
Which areas is this
filling material applied?
Especially when used
with botox injection, it can be used in frowning lines
between eyebrows, goose foot deformities, nasolabial loops
stretching from wings to mouth, thin wrinkles around the
mouth, linings from mouth corners to the bottom, setting lip
curves and making lips fat, cleavage area, neck and hand
linings. With the injection of it into skin, where thin
wrinkles and loops these areas straighten and get plump.
Where is hyaluronic acid
implementation made? How long does it take?
Such injections, which
can be applied in normal surgery conditions, does not
generally require local anesthesia. After skin is cleared
with alcohol or another antiseptic material, filling
material is injected with needlepoint injectors in the way
it can fill wrinkles. The procedure is applied in 15-20
minutes without any side effects other than mild swelling
and rubor.
How often should this hyaluronic acid
filling material be applied?
This filling material
is discarded from body with slow absorption. This takes
approximately 6 months. Normally, less filling material,
which hyaluronic acid sends daily from is cleared from the
body. Thus, it is a procedure requiring repetition once in 6
months. However, this period changes according to the area
that is treated, the structure of the skin, anatomy and
lifestyle.
What are the side effects of the
procedure?
Because this is a
material found naturally on body, allergic reactions are not
observed. It is FDA approved and used widely in America.
After the implementation, mild swelling and rubor can be
seen. This swelling passes away after 48 hours. Possible
disorders and areas requiring supply can be fixed with
filling material injection after 15days.
In what cases hyaluronic filling
material is not applied?
In pregnancy and
lactation periods, implementation should be avoided as there
is not enough information about the subject. When there are
herpes infections around lips, injections should be delayed.
In areas, where inflammation and allergic reactions are
observed, injection should be avoided.
What it tissue cocktail?
Among the filling
materials taken from and applied back to the patient, tissue
cocktail has an important place. With this method, from
patients, who had operations like face lifting, abdomen
lifting, breast downsizing; subcutaneous bond and muscle
tissues are taken and be detached into particles that can be
filled into injectors and again for the removal of wrinkles
it is applied into the skin.
What is its difference from fat
injection?
Because under skin
dermis tissue and bond tissues have much more collagen than
fat tissues and their feedings are 90% after 6months (fading
rate 10%), with tissue cocktail, long-term cosmetic results
are gathered in face lifting operation.
Why is our tissue the best filling
material?
Other filling
materials, which are used for wrinkles, falling and slacking
treatment (collagen, injected silicon, stitching materials
etc.) may cause allergic reactions and infection risks are
higher than fat and tissue cocktail. Also with some filling
materials, unnatural and adverse results may occur. After
fat injections, there are no allergic reactions. Infection
risk is quite low. Thus surgeons and patients should prefer
biological filling materials instead of expensive artificial
filling materials, which can cause unwanted results like
infection, abscess, and bruises.
